AC's Thoughts On Life

Hello one and all! I am here for the purpose of my Honors English class. This is where I will write down my thoughts about anything and everything. Just know that they will not help solve world hunger or cause world peace, but, they should be oddly entertaining! Enjoy!

Music As An Image

It seems like the trends in teens depends on the popular singers and bands. When Britney Spears was popular, it was common for girls to walk around in mini skirts and belly shirts. When NSYNC was popular, guys would be scene wearing bagging pants with their hair bleached. No that Panic!at the Disco and Fall Out Boy are popular it is less common to see baggy pants and more common to see guys wearing girls pants.Beyonce is popular and more girls are wearing South Pole and Apple Bottom jeans. It seems that the person who has the most press coverage is the person we all seem to strive to be like. They are the posters on our wall, the CDs in our stereo, the song stuck in our head. They are who we become, well, at least untill someone new comes along. Why is that? Is it the glamorous life style they have, their feeling of independance? Is it because we want their lifestyle? We want to go to the parties and the awards, kiss the hot males on the movies ,or smash our guitars on stage and be loved for it? What is it that is so appealing?

School Rivalry

Well, if you were at school on friday, you would have known that there was a game between layton and Davis high. A lot of the kids from Fairfield went to the game and a couple of them play for one of the schools. There has always been school rivalrys for liike ever, but some people took it too far. I went to the game myself and spent time on both sides with my friends. As i was sitting on the Davis side, some Layton kids came over and started spraying silly string on the Davis kids and in turn the Davis kids spit all over the Layton kids. There was already alot of tension between schools due to the Davis kids burning the letter D in the layton field. one of the players on the Layton team decided to use the end-of-game handshake as a way of revenge. The player placed a thumtack in his glove which made it so that when he hit another players hand it poked into his skin.No one was seriously hurt but a parent still wants to press criminal charges! What about the kids that lit the feild on fire? Thats against the law and yet nobody is doing anything about it? It doesn't matter what team you're cheering for, sometimes things aren't handled the way they should be.I can't personaly give my opinion because i have no clue where I am going to high school, but come on, spitting on people and poking people with thumbtacks?

Did You See What He Was Wearing!?!?!?!?!?

Girls have been known for going to extremes to look good, including wearing rediculous things like 3 inch heeled shoes and so on. But know it seems to be the guys turn. I've noticed now that guys seem to look as though they have spent more time on their hair in the mornings than i did. Now this isn't all guys but it does seem to be happening alot. But that isn't as bad as the girl pants. Yes, the dreaded girl pants. I've seen boys wearing jeans so tight that girls could never dream of even fitting into them. They appear as if they are painted on. Why do they do this? Are they more comfortable? Do they make it so they can skate better? Or, is it just because they can?

Whatever happened to this?

School Dress Code

As far as the dress code goes, I totally agree that girls should wear shirts bigger that wash rags, and guys pants shouldn't expose half of their boxer shorts, but some things I don't understand. The main thing is how they go about fixing the problem. Take pants with holes. Now, I understand if the whole is the size of a baseball and is exposing your whole thigh, but when has anyone ever worn pants like those to school( if you have, oh dear)? Usually when someone wears jeans to school that have holes in them, they are nothing like the ones previously described. The holes are around an inch-an inch and a half and are around the knee area. They are also usually pre-torn by the clothing store and is sewn so that it looks nice. Then you get in trouble and they have you put duct tape on the holes.Duct tape?Since when is putting duct tape on your jeans more dignified than having small holes in them? I personally think it looks tacky because people who see them walking around with duct tape on their pants don't know why it's there and probably think the kid is odd.

We Just Don't Talk Anymore.......

Alright everybody, I've been thinking about something lately and I have some questions. Why is it that nobody really talks anymore? Instead of talking we are all texting or IMing. I have had this happen to me on several different occasions where someone will call me so I can get online and IM with them when they could just talk to me right there on the phone. Another thing I've had people do is this, they will write something down on their phone and then hand it to me, then they tell my to write something back. I sit there and wonder why? I could have a whole conversation with you in half the time it takes us to write something to each other. I know that there are times when texting or IMing are the best way to comunicate. Like when your in class and you text your friend instead of talking because they are in another class and there is no other way to talk to them without leaving the room. There is also I good reason for IMing. If you have dail up and the phone doesn't work while your online, or if you're parents are mad at you for staying on the phone too long, but these are rarely the case. I know that about 99.9% of people are going to hate me know, but seriously, think about it.
